I have been look for information on fox hunts. I haven't found much besides when the season is - I found late October through March- and that it needed to be sponsored, but not why it needed to be sponsored. No bit of information is too small. I want to know every little detail!- What kind of guns they used to what horses they rode? What was worn? Did women participate any? Absolutely anything would be helpful.

I don't have any reference to base this on but I believe hunts had to be sponsored because they were usually begun on an estate and could move onto other estates so there would need to be consent for hunting to take place or it would be consider poaching...i think. I believe women were involved in these hunts and happily participated. With all the dogs involved I'm not so sure guns were used that much..again I am not certain but I would be worried about a dog getting shot while in pursuit of the vixen. I believe the joy was in the chase (cruel to the chased animal as may be). But I know on Mary Poppin's that one part with the fox hunt one of the guys had a gun....so more education is needed for me to really know for sure if guns were used or not. Cause you know Mary Poppin's is an excellent source of historical accuracy
