It is a true pleasure to meet you. I am a Regency enthusiast from Germany – there are not many of us here.
I have read Georgette Heyer’s novels two dozen times (each) and love doing Old English Country Dances.
I am looking forward to sharing all things Regency with you.
Geona (a.k.a Anna M Thane ;- ))

Hello Miss Geona! It is nice to meet you! I am Candy (Miss Cecily is my regency persona.) I have yet to read any of Georgette Heyer's novels, but I do love the works of Jane Austen! Which Heyer novel would you recommend to an interested reader? I too love English country dances, though I know very little of them. Thankfully I have danced with many people who are experienced, and they have helped me learn a little.

How do you do, Miss Geona. Welcome.
And here I was convinced that Europe was packed full of Regency/Napoleonic re-enactors in gorgeous costumes; at least I keep running across pictures of such events, especially with all the bicentennial anniversaries these days.

Dear Miss Cecily Thank you very much for the warm welcome. For a glimpse at G. Heyer’s work, I recommend “The Grand Sophy”. To me, it is one of her most delightful novels, a treat from beginning to end. I immensely enjoy her brilliant dialogues, witty observations and eye for historic details. I also like Jane Austen. Which one is your favourite novel or movie? By the way, when I travelled to London recently, I noticed the new biography on Jane Austen: "The Real Jane Austen: A Life in Small Things" by Paula Byrne. It was published in January this year. Do you know it?

You are right, of course: It will not be difficult to find them in Leipzig in September / October when they re-enact the Battle of the Nations. During the rest of the year, medieval aficionados are more visible. Personally, I would like to see the annual Jane Austen festival in Bath.

My favorite novels by Jane Austen are Northanger Abbey and Sense and Sensibility My favorite movies would have to be Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle, and Sense and Sensibility with Charity Wakefield (Marianne), Hattie Morahan (Elinor) and Dan Stevens (Mr. Ferrars). I have never heard of that biography! I wouldn't mind seeing it. Oh, and I too would love to go to the Jane Austen Festival in Bath. But money is tight for me right now, so I can't afford a plane ticket. I'm from the US so I go to the one in Louisville, Kentucky every year in July. This year I have been trying to create Cecily so act as. I don't know why I never thought to make one last year! I was amazed by all the people who were in character when I was there

Dear Miss Cecily, you are so very right: I too believe Pride and Prejudice with Mr Firth and Ms Ehle to be the best. Miss Wakefield and Mr Stevens are great in Sense and Sensibility. I also love the movie with Mrs Thompson and Mr Grant, especially the scene with the litlle sister hiding under the table in the library.
The last days, I have read my way through this site's threads. I am really impressed how everybody has created a Regency-character. There seems to be a lot re-enactment in the US, and so brilliantly done. You will have so much fun in July!
