There seems to be a hole in Regency topics, and it's one that fascinates me the most. What happens to a young lady with a ruined reputation? Say she's a 'bad girl' gets caught kissing, or worse, seduced by a rake? I can't find any real stories of the Bad Girls, the Lydias, of this time, just a few small anecdotes. One was particularly angering in that a woman's reputation was ruined when she fell from a carriage. I would love to read her story in detail. How would society treat a fallen woman? How would she live if shunned from society? And was there any way to fix a ruined reputation?
