Good Morning All, This may be old hash for some, but Regency era art is something I just recently discovered. I've never before been interested in art (maybe it comes with growing up, I'll let you know if I ever do), but have found that some art from this era is quite pleasing. There is also quite a bit of it around on the web. Unfortunately it's not always affordable to purchase. Here is one of my favorite artists from the period. Of course, this is a recent discovery for me, so my favorite may change daily for awhile John Lewis Krimmel (1786-1821) An Artist in Federal America. He does so much with life, that you can sense what the people in the paintings are feeling. You can see some of his works here: worldroots.com/brigitte/krimmelpaintings.htmI hope you enjoy.

I do enjoy art from all eras, and I enjoyed looking at these. Thank you...and welcome to the board!
eta: interesting how the interiors depicted in "County Wedding" and "Quilting Frolic" are so similar, yet different.
And I do wonder why for soooo long children were depicted in art as "miniature adults", with adult facial features and head proportions. ??

Dear Lady Serendipity,
Now that you mention it, I see what you mean by the children looking like mini-us. Hmm, that's interesting. Something to ponder.
Thank you for the welcome.
