On June 8, 2008 at 2:00 pm, the Puget Sound Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) will present a lecture by the National President of JASNA, "Viewing Austen Through Vermeer's Camera Obscura." Marsha will pair Vermeer paintings with scenes from Austen's novels and analyze how the two artists construct their portraits of female domesticity and convey the interior life of their subjects. The talk will be at the UW's Henry Art Gallery which is located on the western edge of the University of Washington campus at 15th Avenue NE and NE 41st Street. The talk is free and all are invited. There will be a reception with tea and cake afterwards with a modest charge ($5). JASNA's website is www.jasna.org/index.html and the Puget Sound Region's website is www.austenps.com/indexhtml. For more information, please contact Jim Nagle, 206-623-3427 or nagle@oles.com.
