I saw that you were a new board and were wanting new members, so I went ahead and signed up.
However, I am almost completely new to the wonderful world of Regency!
As an English major, my love of Jane Austen goes way back. I fell further in love with "Pride and Prejudice" through the old black and white movie with Greer Garson. It remains a favorite of mine, even though of course I know the period of the clothes is all wrong!
But like any sensible person, the A&E version holds my heart
, although I was surprised to love the movie with Keira Knightley as well. It was a different interpretation, but I enjoyed it.
So I have a casual history with the Regency era, I guess you'd say. I loved it, and always felt drawn to it....but it was just ONE of my many interests.
Well, now I've had a chance to focus on that long term crush, and develop it into a full-blown love affair. ;D An English Country Dancing group is starting up in our area, and I'm definitely looking forward to participating, and not LEAST of all...
....DRESSING THE PART! ;D I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions for you as I plan my first regency gown, and the proper assessories!
In the meantime, looking forward to exploring the threads that are already here!
