Hi there, I'm from Canberra, the capital city of Australia. I am a historical costumer and make garments from Italian Renaissance 1480s through to the 1890s. I run a dance troupe, the Bordonian Heritage Dancers www.bordonia.org and help my husband run the Earthly Delights Historic Dance Academy www.earthlydelights.com.au. Next week we have our Jane Austen Festival and I'm teaching a regency bonnet and reticule workshop on Friday and then running two full days over the weekend of dance workshops, a picnic, dinner, ball, and more. Right now I'm madly trying to make an open robe in one day to wear on Monday for a photo shoot.I have three gowns but need something new this year, I've been too busy to make anything for myself. In my other life, I am a desktop publisher at the Australian National University. Cheers, Aylwen Gardiner-Garden *Mod Edited: thoughtfully modified to add user name to subject

Welcome, Aylwen. It's good to see you here. We shall be picking your brain, er...soliciting your advice on clothing, dance, etc., to be sure.

Maybe we can pick each other's brains, I am always learning something new in this game. I must say, isn't it great to have the internet? I learn so much visiting other dress diaries and seeing what other people are doing. But I couldn't be without my books - I've spent a fortune on historical fashion books, they're my almost constant companion. Cheers, Aylwen

Welcome Aylwen! I've been to your regency garment website many times, so it it wonderful to have you join us. Your upcoming JA festival was mentioned last weekend at a planning meeting for my local JASNA chapter, as we are having a 2-day JA festival here in the summer. Our president, Bonnie, was singing your praises, so I feel like I'm meeting a rock-star of the JA world!

Welcome Aylwen, I hope your membership brings some more of our Australian friends into the RSA; we're always happy to welcome new faces and experiences.
I've been a frequent visitor to Earthly Delights' site for a long time, and it's part of the reason why the ORS exists today. So thank you! We look forward to photos, events and all manner of information from your corner of the globe. No pressure! :::hee hee:::
Welcome!

I'm rather limiting myself to the Sensibility Forum, this one, Australian Costumers Guild and Truly Victorian. Any more and I'll never get any sewing done! Cheers, Aylwen

I hardly have time to hang out here. Iam always surprised at how much it has grown since the last time I looked.
I wish I could get more sewng done myself.
That's so cool, I love earthly delights. I go to the site frequently. FYI= some pictures dont come up properly.

Earthly delights is a fabulous site. It was an inspiration to me when I started the ORS. I also learned a lot about the dance, which at the time I knew zilch about. I'm so grateful for the site.
