What are everyones' personal glove preferences? Do you wear leather gloves or something else? Does anyone make their own gloves? What is your preferred length? Do you wear a garter?

I'm chubby, it's hard to find long gloves that fit, I *should* make my own, but I haven't gotten that ambitious yet. I bought some stretchy opera gloves for this ball. For $10, it's not a big loss; but someday I'd like to make my own gloves so they get all rumpled as they should.

What do you think that you will make your gloves out of? Leather? Cotton? Wool?

Possibly a nice silk or high quality cotton.

I'd like to find a good glove pattern, at least so I can get an idea of how they're cut and made.

What about making a pair of elegant long mitts from the Kannik's Korner pattern? I've made them in a handkerchief weight linen and they're lovely for day wear. For more formal evening, I think they'd be beyond fabulous in cotton net with embroidery. Stockings, pockets and mitts pattern: www.kannikskorner.com/pataccess.htm

dawnluckham - I had not even thought about that. Mitts wonderful. My imaginary wardrobe just increased massively.
