Okay, so I need to make a pattern of my stovepipe bonnet for the workshop; but also because a local milliner offered to make me a buckram frame of it if I provided her a pattern.
How would I best go about making a pattern of the bonnet. I'm sure I can easily remeasure and draw on paper the brim, top, and the crown itself, I suppose... Does anyone have just any bonnet pattern I can look at to see where one would 'seam' the tube, for instance?
I know I could do it just winging it in the ol' Stephanie way... but to avoid having to re-do it... I am seeking advice on how to best create a pattern.
Am I being... coherent? Hard to tell since it's Monday.

I am not sure that I can exactly help you but I did just get an aesome hatmaking book from the library. The hat patterns for bonnets have seams at the center back. If you are using your hat as the ideal pattern I would just put paper over it and trace it. here is a capote on Katherine's dress site. It shows the shapes of her pieces. www.koshka-the-cat.com/capote.html

I got some graphed posterboard to play with. It seems like it won't be too hard to do.
