First, thanks so very much to Steph for posting the how-to's and answering all of my PM's patiently (I really couldn't have done it without you!). Okay, so I cut the sunhat to shape, added the trim around the edge and put in the silk lining. I decided to try to "shape" it into a more bonnet shape by spraying the outside straw with water and clipping it into shape while it dried. After opening it, the bottom edges still kinda flipped out. So I clipped in again in this way and it did much better. This is the shape after letting it dry a few hours and taking the clips off: I added a ribbon glued tightly around the base of the crown to hold the shape as well. I glued the capote on and added the trim. I made these ribbon flowers to decorate with (I just got Kling's book on ribbon art!) Finished product left side: Right side: My first project completed...whew!

You learned the flowers from a book? They're very pretty. I love the blue crown fabric.

Wow Tess! That turned out fifty times better than the example!! LOL. The choice of your fabric is great, I love it, and the trim is SO pretty; the rosettes... You should be so proud. You did a GREAT job on the gathering too.
Wonderful!
