Hello Friends, I was unaware until this week, that Hancock Fabrics has a different brand of pattern every month or so that goes on sale from $14.00 to $0.99 cents!! (they make all patterns of a certain brand $0.99)
The sale lasts only a day or 2, but I picked up 10 regency patterns today for $9.93! The sale is on until Feb 2.

PS: I love that it won't let me post the name of the store because it has a naughty word in it!!
It's the store that is often quoted when someone asks you to sign something, saying they need your John Han-_ _ _ _ on it.

As you have seen, I have turned off the words that would set off the naughty word detector for such words as Hancock Fabrics, Dickens Fair or Pocketwatch, I trust we're all well-behaved adults and can be trusted, and we do not require the board to decide for us. If you think of others, let me know, it's a long list that makes even me blush, which is saying somethign since I've been known to be crass sometimes. I will leave most of the words on the list, just because they're words that are unlikely to be inadvertently part of another word, and if they are used on this board, it's likely it's inappropriate and should be censored anyway.
Sorry about that.

I wish *we* had a Hancock fabrics here. I'm dependant on JoAnns. Who does have pattern sales occasionally. I don't think I've paid full price for a pattern in years, and was shocked at how much they are marked at. Why would anyone pay that much?

LOL! ;D Sadly, Val, here in Canada we mostly have to pay that awful full price (plus the terrifying Canadian mark-up still left over from when our dollar was worth so much less than yours.) Our fabric stores do not put patterns on $0.99 cent sales like you have in the States.
It does encourage me to spend what is literally just a couple of dollars more to purchase the more historically correct patterns from the independent pattern companies and I hesitate to purchase the "Big 3" patterns more often.

Well, I'd be more than willing to pick up some when they're 99 cents if you let me know which ones.

Thank you, Val. It's very sweet of you to offer. You never know, I may just someday write and ask you to do that for me. At this point in the game, however, most of the big pattern companies have lost me when I've compared the price to the independents. But never say “never”! They’re coming out with some really cute ‘vintage’ and ‘retro’ looks these days – and some of the Edwardian style things have been very nice.

Val, we do indeed have a Han-naughty-word Fabrics in the SD area, but they are both a bit of a trek. I have been to one in Vista, just at the 79 freeway, and I understand there is one in Chula Vista but that's out of my zone. Both are too far for a casual shopping trip, and I tend to forget about them. edited for English because it's wayyyy too late.

BUT I used to work in Chula Vista, and that's only 25 mins from me. Is it in the new Otay Ranch area? Thanks!!

Sorry, I've merely heard tell of its existence. Chula Vista is completely out of my ken--I don't think I've even been there.
