Hi Everyone I build wigs and hairpieces for reenactors and impersonators of all eras. I'm working specifically on some easy to wear hairpieces for Regency coiffures - some small clusters of curls that can be pinned around buns and some more elaborate pieces that can be anchored over one's own hair. Since I also work in theatre, I often have to find way to use actors own hair in period shows - in Pride and Prejudice, I had great luck using the 5 Bennet sisters own hair and augmenting it with pieces of hair that were built onto bandeaus and hair ornaments. I used the mens own hair with sideburns I built for them, and wigged some of the other men and women completely. You can see some photos of Pride and Prejudice on my portfolio website, www.wigsforstage.com/pride.htmlI"m working with my local Jane Austen society to help some of thei members develop easy, beautiful Regency hair for fashion shows and balls. Some of the members are having me build them full wigs, others are having me figure out a way to style their own hair. Since i"m new to this forum, I'm kind of just jumping in here - but i"m happy to answer hair questions or talk with members about their hair and be as helpful as I can be. I have an FAQ on hairgoods on my Custom Wig Company site, located here - customwigcompany.com/faq.htmlOn this page of my portfolio site, you can read articles I've written on wigs and hair - www.wigsforstage.com/Articles.htmlAdditionally, I have started a blog on my projects in both theatre and for the Custom wig Co, and I'm also trying to work "how to" topics on hair, period styles, and wigs into the blog - so if you have a topic suggestion, please feel free to let me know. The blog is located here - www.customwigcompany.com/blog/And finally, one last resource, the Custom Wig Company has a facebook page where we try to post helpful information and have trivia contests to give away hair related prizes. www.facebook.com/CustomWigCompanyAs I said, I love to talk about period hair, and wigs and hair goods, so I'm excited to be here!

I have super straight hair but achieve Regency ringlets by rag rolling or paper rolling my hair overnight...just like you see the ladies doing in the movies. My mom actually did this for me as a kid and so I'm used to rolling it this way. Strips of muslin or paper work much better than the soft sponge rollers and all you need to do is the front. Of course, layers work best and most ladies of the Regency period had layers and hair length was usually just past the shoulders or a little higher than mid-back. I'm currently working on research for hairstyling of the period and finding lots of interesting bits...like the asymetrical styles that were popular from about 1805 to 1809...think curly on one side and slick straight on the other.
