Has anyone watched this yet? Hubby went out and p/u some dvds for me yesterday to watch while I'm recovering, and I wondered if it's any good. Of course I'll give my own feedback after I've watched it too.

I just finished watching it and I enjoyed it very much. There were a lot of comparisons btn the characters in the movie, and the story lines of Austen's books that they were "following". All the references to Austen's books and the discussion was most enjoyable too. I recommend it.

I loved it too. I really love Grigg's POV on Northanger abbey!

I haven't seen it yet. I'll have to add it to my netflix queue.
I think we should start some 'recommendation' poll threads for various adaptations and Jane-related film and tv.

Okay, I’m going to differ in opinion. ( Sorry Val!) I saw it and didn’t like it. (For the record and in all fairness, it wasn’t awful. I just wouldn’t recommend it.) It’s about modern people in a book club and they all have “life problems” and they relate their problems to the stories written by Jane Austen. I think it was supposed to show how Jane’s values and wisdom helped them make good decisions. But somehow I found the whole thing tepid and kind of a ‘downer’.
