These really high gas prices have been taking a significant toll on our financial freedom. My hubby and I are in pretty rough waters right now, so much so my husband is considering taking a job where he might have to be away six weeks at a time, and back only a few days in between; just so we can get a bit ahead.
Anyone else feeling the effects of this economy?

Since I'm retired, I don't have to worry about driving a half hour to work anymore, so am saving gas that way. I'm not jumping in the car and going somewhere for relaxation like I used to do. And I am turning down different costume events just because it requires driving an hour or more. If we can get 3 or more to a car, and split gas cost, that still works. But I'm not offering to be the driver as often as I used to because rarely did anyone offer to help pay for gas. They just wanted to ride together. I think it's mainly affecting any leisure-time drives that used to be a main part of our lives. Since I live a mile from a shopping center, I've combined small purchases into my walks instead of driving there.

Retired? ?? You're my age, aren't you? mid thirties? Thank you for the compliment, Steph. I'm 54. I started volunteering, then working for the city at age 15, so I had lots of years put into my retirement account.
