Hello, My name is Mardi. My family and I have just joined a Canadian group of re-en-actors who do war of 1812 events. Everyone was so friendly at our first event, we decided to join and learn more. As I am the seamstress in the household, I have taken it upon myself to do my homework and learn as much as I can about the fashions. I started as a "lurker", but am ready to make your acquaintance.

Very nice to meet you Mardi! I am also an 1812 reenactor, a member of the 19th US Infantry out of Ohio. May I ask which group you are with? Well I must let you know that if there is anything 1812 wise you would like to know please let me know I would be more than happy to help you and your family get into the hobby.

We are with the Canadian Fencibles out of Ontario. Our first event was at Plattsburgh NY this September. I am still a little confused as to which patterns/styles are appropriate for the 1812-1814 years. I really like the bib-front dress, but my 17 year old is not as fond of it. I also know that some of the events have fancy balls, so we would like to make ball-gowns, as well as our camp dresses.
