I wanted pointy flats, darn it. But finding them in stores was not working--at least I didn't want to pay $60 for a pair of wedding dyables or something like that. So I went to the all-satisfying ebay, and found a pair of pointy flats for $6.99. The only pitfall was that they were the most horrible gold lamé I've ever seen... like candy-wrapper gold... Bleagh! I could find no others like them in a more reasonable colour. Original shoes: So I bought them. Some logic. I stopped by the hardware store Saturday and bought some flat black spray-paint. I stuffed them with plastic bags, and spray-painted them (I was sure to use a paint that worked on wicker and other surfaces). They took the colour most surprisingly well. I then took out my trust hot glue gun and added some trim for the heck of it. I will also add ribbon ties to them too, but I haven't bought the ribbon yet. But here they are. Ta-da! I think they turned out quite well despite everything. And they'll do for the ball. They also offer a better, harder sole for walking; which my dance shoes do not. Yay. Sorry Cosmo. It will be a while before I start making them from scratch. ::teehee::

Bravo for your inovative shoes, Steph! I wouldn't recommend bridal shoes. I've bought a couple and they're as hard & stiff as a rock, with very little sole. So after a half hour my feet are killing me, and I go barefoot (actually in my thin socks, which become dirty and torn). My best ones have been the ballet flats from Target (w/o gathers), and I attached a pretty bow or rosette to it.

My shoes were like a thin layer of cardboard on my feet, so painful that I was standing outside on cold pavement in mid-october barefoot having my wedding pictures taken.

thos turned out really good. when you get the ribbons on take a pic so we can see how they look on stocking-ed feet.
OT--- i sort of followed your pictures to your flickr account. did you really draw all those things? that is amazing you should be illustrating childrens book's.

What a transformation! Those shoes turned out very nice indeed. Although, over shoes I much prefer looking into the beauty of a lady's eyes

Thanks Mrs. Tilney. The paint did come off a bit in the cracks after the ball, wherever they flexed, but not so much that it's ugly; there are just little seams of pale gold.
