In the 6 hour version of pride and prejudice the 2 Miss Bingleys hats look very much like turbans. Ive searched a few times and I cannot find too much on regency turbans. Making my question, were the movies hats/turbans accurate? and any idea how to make one? If I dont make any sense do forgive me for its very late/early!

I suppose the best way to go abuot it is to build one on a headform, wrapping, tacking, stitching as you go. I know that Thea made one for the February ball last year, and it was quite stunning, and really simple. Two long pieces of fabric twisted together and then tied in a knot in back, and it was quite pretty. She easily could have pinned a brace of feathers on there as well to really make it look formal; and make a pile of curls in the center of it--also curling the hairs around the face to frame it in curls would be pretty too. It was very simply made.

Turbans were worn roughly from the 1790's through the 1820's. There are several different ways to make them. I made my own over a buckram frame because I wanted to easily put it on like a hat, but the wrapped scarves method makes for a great look as well. There was a series of articles on Your Wardrobe Unlocked about making turbans. yourwardrobeunlockd.com/
